I have a gum infection around the wisdom tooth. im taking amoxicillin 875mg + clavulanate 125mg every 12 hours and ibuprofen 400mg every 6 hours. how long do you think i should take it for? it hurts a lot all the time.

Antibiotic: Should always be taken as prescribed with typical courses being 7-10 days. Ibuprofen is to be taken as needed and a dental exam should be in place as only dental treatment will eliminate the cause for the pain.

Wisdom Teeth: Antibiotics will usually bring an infection under control within 24 to 48 hours. To completely resolve the issue, that tooth may need to be extracted. Discuss with your dentist.
