Seek consultation: Since you have a history with the panic attacks and social phobia, probably the best thing to do is seek consultation with a mental health professional. This person can, if you choose, help you 1) gain an understanding of how the feelings might have developed over time, and 2) come up with a plan to effectively overcome them.

CBT: Seek a cognitive-behavioral therapist who specializes in phobias. One method they use is systematic desensitization which slowly and incrementally brings the person closer and closer to the thing they are afraid of in slow, graduated steps that help make the anxiety more tolerable.
