A member asked:

I fractured a transverse process a little over a month ago, i have started walking and biking, when will it be safe for me to lift weights again?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fracture: The transverse processes are the little wings that stick out from the side of the lumbar vertebra. Small muscles attach to them. Any fracture takes 6-12 weeks to heal. Sometimes these little parts of the bone don't heal back normally, but this is rarely a problem. I recommend my patients to hold off on heavy lifting for 6-8 weeks after an injury like this.
