HTN GOALS: HTN goals the lower the better as long as you are tolerating it. SBP<120. DBP<80. Important to Moniter EKG/ECHO for LVH. The data is better with ACE/ARB, which improve blood flow to the kidneys. I prefer Diovan (valsartan) and titrate dose up to get to the goal. Follow up with your doctor. In general HTN Meds are best dosed in the evening(CHRONOTHERAPY) Also restrict salt<3gm and stick to Gluten Free diet.

Many think mid 90's: is higher then it should be. The higher you go above 90, the greater the risk of heart disease. Do you check your BP at home? is it better there then in the Dr. Office? The 120's don't seem to be much of an issue, but many doctors would want your diastolic to be below 90. Ask your doctor if he thinks it would be better for it to be lower.
