No: It stays there forever. She was born with it. The epiglottis covers the trachea (covers the hole leading to the lungs) so that she doesn't choke when swallowing. In kids, it is easier to see. It is a bit harder to see in adults, but if she is 19 years old and her epiglottis is easily seen, she'll likely be that way forever.
