See doctor: I don't think you can see your epiglottis. I think probably you mean your tonsil or your uvula --not epigottis. Sometimes, people can have /feel foreign body sensation/feeling something stuck on the throat- that can be caused by acid reflux. However other things like infection, motility problem, etc should be ruled out. You need to see your doctor to get checked.

See an ENT: The epiglottis is positioned deep and usually not easy to view. If what you see is in fact epiglottis, and since it is painful, it is likely that your epiglottis is swollen. If so, what caused it? While swelling may be from bacterial infection, this may be related to more systemic condition such as immune system dysfunction. Ent doctors are well trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat this area.
