A member asked:

Is it normal for adults not to be able to see their epiglottis even when pushing their tongue down forcefully? i can't see mine at all, and is it possible for your epiglottis to go higher up or will it always stay at same height?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Your not being able to see your epiglottis is not a disease or disorder. Epiglottis does move up and down with swallowing. Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
