Radicular symptoms?: The pain you are describing (going down front of leg from knee to shin) sounds like a "dermatome" of the Lumbar 4-5 level. This can be caused by shingles (with a painful rash), or a disc herniation in the lower back. Could also be problems inside knee joint. What kind of MRI did your mother have?
