Not risky: Not risky if done by trained personnel. In hospital does not work economically. I'm sure if you want to spend $5000.00 for hospital and anesthesia charges, you could have it done in the hospital.

Benefits vs risks: Versed is the most commonly used tranquilizer in children because of its speed of action and effectiveness. The judicious use of sedation, close attention to patient selection, and careful monitoring, can significantly reduce the risks.

Training Dependent: Whether a dentist offers Versed as an option for sedation in the office will depend upon his or her level of training and licensure credentialing. Many dental specialists have advanced training in performing IV sedation and/or general anesthesia as part of their residency programs and are experienced in using Versed in a monitored and controlled outpatient setting.
