A member asked:

Could you donate blood while taking apo-lithium carbonate?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not advisable: I would prefer not to, except in very exceptional cases. Lithium might be contraindicated in kidney failure and people needing a transfusion might be challenged with multiple organ disfunction, or might have anemia or other problems affecting their general condition. However, a therapeutic dose taken by the donor is not in and of itself toxic. This would be a rare situation, fortunately.
