There are examples: of success; for example, cingulotomys for OCD. BUT, there are huge risks and while sometimes there are striking successes, there many more unremarkable results, or worse. There are emerging studies of brain implants and other formerly radical techniques, but this field is still in its infancy. I still favor non-invasive techniques like neurofeedback.
