How does blood get from the legs back to the heart if that defies the rules of gravity?

Blood flow: The circulatory system is a closed loop pump system. The heart pumps blood into the system and as long as the peripheral resistance vessels and veins do their work the blood will rise up the legs through the abdomen and to the heart. This does require some muscle tightening in the legs. When you see soldiers fall over from standing still at attention for a long time, this is a system failure
