PPI: GERD that fails to resolve with treatment should prompt consideration for endoscopy (Gastroenterologist views the esophagus and stomach and may biopsy). There could be infection with H.pylori or other underlying issue. PPI is notoriously difficult to wean from, so u could taper off.
