GERD: You may need an upper endoscopy. it also depends what medications you have been on. Diet changes and lifestyle measures are important. Losing weight if you need to. Stop smoking if you smoke. Don't lay flat for 2 hours after eating. Limit eating late at night. Limit fatty/spicy foods. Limit alcohol, caffeine and chocolate. Also investigating whether your gallbladder is a cause may help.

See GI doctor: Some people have high acid production and may need medications for longer periods of time. But you might need further testing since you had symptoms for over 3 years so I would recommend seeing your local GI doctor. Also try following the acid reflux diet and see if there is any improvement.
