Sports?: A left sided lower rib injury could be described this way (if you're referring to the hip bone on your side). Is there a bruise? A recent viral syndrome can result in pleurisy. If abdominal, agree with urgent visit to rule out a few important things that could include large spleen, abscess, hematoma, intestinal injury etc.
