Ultrasound: Ultrasound of the liver can diagnose changes in the consistency of the liver tissue. It is very good at diagnosing masses and it evaluating the gallbladder. It is less good at definitively diagnosing scarring or cirrhosis, but it certainly can give indications of change in the liver with those conditions are present. Hope that helps.
