Infectious Diarrhea: Acute diarrhea is defined as 3 or more stools per day lasting for less than 14 days. If the illness persists for more than 14 days, it is called persistent diarrhea and if longer than 1 month, it is considered chronic diarrhea. Most cases of acute diarrhea are self-limited, caused by infectious agents (viruses, bacteria, parasites), and do not require medications. If persisted, needs evaluation
