What is the difference between ceramic braces and lingual braces?

6 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

The difference is..,: Ceramic braces attach to the front of your teeth just like traditional metal braces. The difference is the brackets are made of tooth colored ceramic instead of metal. Lingual braces attach to the tongue side of your teeth. Not everyone has enough room on the backside of their upper front teeth to fit lingual braces. Only an orthodontist can determine which will work better for you.

Time: First, make sure you are seeing a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist who can help you choose the best appliance to resolve your malocclusion. Second, outside braces, metal or ceramic, give the best control, shortest time in Rx, and are the most comfortable.
