A member asked:

High tsh 8.01 all other thyroid levels normal. worried had small nodules on thyroid last year with normal thyroid levels.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Subclinical hypothyroidism.: An isolated elevation of the TSH in the face of other thyroid hormone levels being normal suggests a diagnosis of subclinical hypothyroidism. The most likely underlying cause is Hashimoto's thyroiditis and your blood should be checked for the presence of anti-thyroid antibodies. At a TSH level of eight or higher I would recommend treatment with thyroid hormone therapy.
