I got esophagitis and my doctor give me Nexium (esomeprazole) 40 one each day. But I feel that is taking too long to heal. Should I add Ranitidine?

Lump in throat wont go away. Took pepcid zantac. Was on prilosec for a bit it stopped working. Should i try nexium (esomeprazole)? My cardiologist said to do two pills twice a day. Then go up to 2 pills twice a day. If all fails go to gastro.
