Globus versus...: A ball or lump sensation in your throat past which you can easily swallow is called "globus"--a functional problem that ranitidine likely won't help. Nor would it likely address esophageal spasm or dysmotility problems. A peptic stricture in your esophagus that constricts the swallowing tube may require dilation, afterwhich acid blocker rx is appropriate. Esophagitis is fixable with ranitidine.
