Here's an idea: You're probably describing myoclonus, which happens to many of us especially as we go in or out of sleep. There's a lot about sleep that's mysterious. Exercise makes people sleep deeper and get more restorative benefit from it, and chances are this is one side-effect of the benefits of gym workouts. Keep it up at the gym.
