Reaction to food: The piece of food is usually not detected by chest radiograph. The focal reaction to the foreign body plugging up bronchus can be air trapping and ultimate consolidation which may represent volume loss, stelectasis, or even inflammatory reaction in form of pneumonia. Patients that chronically aspirate can have diffuse lung disease.

Food on xray: Usually no. If food blocks an airway enough to cause part of the lung to collapse then that may show on an xray
