No: It is more dangerous not to remove the bacteria that can fester in deep periodontal pockets. Gum disease has been linked to heart disease. Follow the ama guidelines for premedication and you will be better off. Trust us.

No, the opposite: More and more studies are coming out on the oral systemic health connection. Check out Dr. Bale and Amy Doneen, they are doing great work with oral DNA. Everyone needs there oral health in check. It is magnified when people have heart conditions, diabetes and others. Please see your dentist.

Deep cleaning : To prevent endocarditis and other heart complications, patients with heart valve replacement receive a single dose of an antibiotic for prophylaxis. Deep cleaning is good to prevent future cardiovascular disease. Good luck.

Heart valves: For a patient with a heart valve replacement they are considered at risk for bacteria endocarditis so your dentist should prescribe an antibiotic for you to take one hour before the visit (Amoxicillin 2 grams or Clindamycin 600 mg if you are allergic to Penicillin) and spread your dental visits at least 2 weeks apart. Do as much as you can tolerate during each appointment.
