Small risk: The risk of developing endocarditis after teeth cleaning is small. Congenital heart disease increases the risk. Factors that decrease the risk are, 1) keep your teeth and gums healthy between cleanings, 2) don't smoke, 3) get regular teeth cleanings. Antibiotics probably decrease the risk, but the most important factors are keeping your teeth and gums healthy.
