Psychodynamic tx: Find a psychodynamically oriented therapist to speak with about social anxiety. Usually social anxiety is not just about being in crowds. Then, if needed, go with a psychiatric referral from your GP. GP's can prescribe psychotropic meds for anxiety and depression, but they do not have the specialty training that psychiatrists do. This is good advice. There are also tricks that you can learn to make conversation with people. Even something as basic as the Dale Carnegie books can help. Figure out their interests & talk about them. Show subtly that you've recognized what they can justly be proud of.
