Otitis media : it is common after an upper respiratory infection to develop congestion and pressure in one or both ears. Ultimately, you can develop a fluid buildup in the middle ear which creates hearing loss and a feeling like you are underwater. Decongestants, mucus thinners, and sometimes nasal &/or oral steroids are needed to clear the fluid. See an ENT MD for evaluation and treatment.
