See a doctor: It may be wax, but with the pain with pressure there is a possibility of congestion behind the ear drum. Can only be accurately diagnosed and treated with an exam. because of the hoilday you may want to search out and urgent care if your doctor isn't available

Pressure difference: Across the Ear Drum causes the pain you have described. You will need to get examined and possibly ear lavaged. If there is an ear infection that can be diagnosed also. Debrox helps to sofen the wax.
