TMJ irritation: Most likely you strained and irritated your temperomandibular joint, or tmj. It's where the jaw inserts into your skull, with tendons there. If you yawn really large, the head of the jaw may slip a little and then snap back into place, irritating the tendon. Resting the jaw (no gobstoppers) and Motrin for a few days usually helps. Contact your doc if pain continues.
