Can be normal: Missed cycles when a girl enters menarche is nothing to be worried about. Some girls take a while to lock in to a groove when they get started. If there's any chance she could've been sexually active then, you'll need to get a pregnancy test on her. If that's not the case just be patient. She's either late or just missing 1 cycle to get rolling. If misses again then, consider getting her seen.

Common: Young women may not ovulate or do so on an irregular basis for the first 6m-1yr. Often the early cycles are dominated by estrogen production, and menses is irregular.Skipping a month or so followed by a heavy cycle is common. After regular ovulation begins, a new hormone begins setting the regular pattern.If she has problems understanding the process, finding a consultant with experience may help.
