She : She was probably referring to dark colored blood, which is common during a period. It is a good ideas for her to see her family doctor or gynecologist for her annual well woman exam if not done so already. All gynecological issues can be addressed at that visit. Take care.

Probably normal : With menstrual bleeding you may seen brown, maroon, bright red and at times what appears to be purple blood. The color varies as there may be a combination of endometrial tissue, old blood, newer blood and at times clots, which may appear purple. This is rarely a cause for alarm especially if there is no sexual activity. The other issues are not related to the bleeding.
