A member asked:

Urine culture was neg but showed growth of lactobacillus. nurse said it was a germ and not the good kind like in yogurt. she said possibly from sex. she suggested cipro (ciprofloxacin). do you agree?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Urine culture: Would really need to see the results of the urinalysis, but from what you describe the Lactobacillus is likely to have been a vaginal contaminant, rather than a urinary tract pathogen. You need to have an assisted clean midstream catch urine for culture, along with a urinalysis. This does not sound, at least superficially, like you need antibiotics, but without further info, difficult to be sure.
