A member asked:

Can you take ibuprofen before a methacholine challenge breathing test? or will it affect the results?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

AskTheTestingDoctor: As a general principle for any tests like that, you should not take any medications unless they are absolutely necessary (for example, a shot of Scotch or a couple of quaaludes...haha)-- Theoretically, ibuprofen can affect the respiratory apparatus due to its prostaglandin effects, but who knows...just don't take it if you really don't need it. And save the Scotch for after the test...
