I just had a methacholine challenge test for my breathing and had albuterol after. a ton of very sticky clear/yellow mucus is coming up. get mucinex (guaifenesin)?

Not necessary: The albuterol helped open up your airways after the methacholine challenge test and allowed you to clear out the retained mucus from your airways. Increased mucus production can occur due to a wide variety of reasons & could be due to poorly controlled asthma as well. Talk to your doctor about your test results & whether you require inhaled therapies to be started on a long term basis.

Possibly: Nick, i would do this: if you are able, get into a hot shower and inhale the warm mist and cough this stuff up manually. Methacholine may cause you to secrete mucous and then the subsequent albuterol will dilate the bronchioles and allow this stuff to come up. Bring it up, spit it out. Thats what your body wants.
