Pinched nerve: You either pinched a nerve or broke your toe as the swelling can cause the numbness from either condition. Best to call your local podiatrist for x-rays and treatment. good luck

A contusion : Can certainly cause the symptoms you feel. The numbness can be from "whiplash" of the digital nerves. I would ice the toe and try not to step on it. Keep in mind you could of broken the toe but you would need an xray to know for sure.
