For short term use: Prednisone is the best medication for reducing inflammation anywhere. Prednisone is generally safe when used for short periods of time, but can cause side effects such as increased hunger and insomnia. Long-term continuous use can be very dangerous and can cause many health problems.

I would disagree: Since you do not describe your diagnosis, I cannot really answer other than generically. An inflammatory polyneuritis such as Guillain-Barre or CIDP are best treated with IVIG or plasmapheresis, and steroids are not the best approach here. This is far more complicated and would suggest Concierge or IN Box consult here onsite.
