A member asked:

My toddler is having a whitish tongue and foul smelling breath. she also has an occasional runny nose and little bit of coughing. what's the reason?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Catarrh or thrush: Sounds like a bit of an upper respiratory infection, likely viral, could be oral thrush. I think an examination by the pediatrician should be sufficient to solve the problem. In the mean time make sure whatever goes in her mouth is CLEAN (including your nipples if you are breastfeeding) and be sure she stays WELL HYDRATED. Watch for any elevated temperature or fever and report right away.
