With Meals: At this age milk is meant to be enjoyed with a meal, not be the meal. Toddlers should not consume more than 24 ounces of milk per day. Ideally, 1-2 year-olds should have no more than 16 ounces per day (2 cups) and 3-year-olds around 8 to 12 ounces (1 to 1-1/2 cups). This provides necessary daily dose of calcium and part of daily vitamin D requirement.
