Not unusual: The quadriceps shuts down after ACL surgery regardless of graft choice used. Rapid re-activation of the quadriceps is important, and is usually accomplished with PT soon after surgery. Electrical stimulation, and neuro stimulation of the femoral nerve have been shown to be helpful in re-activating the quadriceps. Consult your surgeon for specifics of your condition.
