6-8 months: Our studies show that the graft incorporates from the outside - in. The inner part is usually completely replaced and turned into an acl ligament between 6 and 8 months after surgery. This is why we often limit pivoting activities for so long after acl reconstruction!

A WHILE: Once the graft is harvested, it has no blood supply and once implanted ae a graft it needs to revascularize and then realign its fibers to accept the new sterss it will take with activity. Usually good at about 6 mo, but to be one the safe side i always kept my people from contact/competition untill muscle=uninjured side, then run straight, later cutting then fast stops. Mine=1yr. Brace off ?4/6.
