No: Respiration, blood pressure and heart rate are not under voluntary control. You can hold your breath until you lose consciousness but it will start back automatically. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Breathing: Breathing is handled by aspects of the body that are on autopilot. If you feel the sense you may stop breathing or have such thoughts this sometimes can be a symptom of anxiety. Alternatively air hunger can be associated with other diseases such as a blood clot. I don't think you have such a thing but you need to talk to your doctor about it if it is of concern.
