It shouldn't: As long as the object doesn't go down the windpipe and obstruct the main airway, both the mouth and the other nostril would supply air.

Doesn't happen: It can be up there for days and the kid will start smelling like they have terminal body odor.After it is pulled out , the trapped germs begin to disappear and the kid returns to normal.They often need a brief antibiotic course for a sinus infection.
