That depends: That depends on the location of the tooth. For a back tooth usually the roof of the mouth and cheek on the treated side get numb. For a front tooth it can be the front section on both sides, upper lips and bottom of the nose. Lidocaine (the most common used) usually lasts about 2-2 1/2 hours but other agents can wear off faster or last longer.
