TMJ Problems: Problems with your TMJ are not bacterial in nature.. there are no microorganisms involved. I suggest you have your ear wax cleaned out by a physician and if your problem persists have your dentist determine what treatment if any is needed for your TMJ problem. All the best...

NO: TMJ Dysfunction is NOT an infection and DOES NOT cause swelling. Facial swelling is serious and should be evaluated right away. If you can not be seen by an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist today, then I would go to the hospital emergency room. Do not put off treatment. Untreated facial infections can be fatal.

Definitely, no: Temporo-mandibular syndrome is the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental pain. Headache, EARACHE, sinus pain, neck pain and jaw pain are the common symptoms. Proper diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. See Orofacial Pain practitioner for a consultation and treatment options.

External otitis: Sounds clearly like external otitis (swimmers ear). Not related to TMJ. See ENT doc ASAP. Treatment involves antibiotics, ear drops, sometimes ear wick (to let drops get inside swollen ear canal).
