Yes: Valacyclovir acts in viral DNA and is safe both orally and topically in pregnancy. It is used in the 3rd trimester to decrease the chance of an outbreak near the time of delivery in those with genital herpes. Best wishes to you and the baby.

Call your OB MD: It's impt to always check in with them. If it doesn't stop you from eating, perhaps just put up with the discomfort. Never take anything, even over the counter without checking w/OB. Good luck.
