Yes it can: you can have a very normal liver function while you are having GB attack. unless it is acute attack or the stone passed to the main duct that will effect the liver directly. get an ultrasound. if normal get a HIDA scan

Sounds like you: need cholecystectomy, if you are not high surgical risk. If this is what your doctor recommended, I would follow the advice.
