Mgt discussion/ICU: If food contents get into the lung in large amounts, an infection may result. The coma may be a result of loss of oxygen to the brain, but I would discuss having an EEG performed and a brain MRI with the ICU physicians. If this has been done, schedule a time to meet with the doctor or head nurse to discuss your mom's condition. I hope that your mom recovers.
