My mom is in micu with aspiration pneumonia she intubated on respirator feeding tubes etc for 1 week now. is than normal? what should i be asking dr?

Sorry about your mom: Sounds like she receiving good supportive care. As the infection improves with antimicrobials, she will be weaned off the ventilator and slowly all the tubes will come out. This is, however, a quite serious illness especially in the elderly or in people with underlying lung or heart disease or other complicating illnesses. Hope she improves.

Common: Sad situation. I would suppose the treatment team has told you this is a serious situation that is often fatal. That she has held on for a week is a good sign, and slow recovery is still possible. This condition is not a one size fits all. Recovery could be swift or take months. Try to remain positive and focus on what the docs think will be a signs of improvement, transition to a regular room,etc
