A member asked:

I have pain in the upper pole hydrocalyx which is obstructed by an 8 mm stone. there are also cysts behind the stones. what is the course of treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Kidney stone: And 8 mm kidney stone is reasonably large sized and is less likely to pass on its own. If it's causing pain it would seem probable that your physician will want to somehow remove the stone. This may involve lithotripsy in which sound waves are used to break up the stone into smaller particles which will pass more easily.
