Dx of tinnitus: or "ringing in ears" is based on clinical evaluation and audiometry. Also- studies, such as auditory brainstem responses, otoacoustic emissions, and neuroimaging may be necessaty .Treatment is challenging as tinnitus is a symptom, not a disease. Intervention depends on treating the underlying cause. In your case- persistent ringing after loud stimuli may indicate damage and requires workup.
